Volunteer Memphis, formerly Volunteer Mid-South, is at the heart of volunteering, building capacity for effective volunteering and connecting people with opportunities to serve throughout the Greater Memphis area. We work with nonprofits, churches, schools, corporations, government and other groups that engage volunteers to make community programs stronger.
Volunteer Memphis is an action initiative of Leadership Memphis.
An Action Initiative of Leadership Memphis, Volunteer Memphis seeks to develop, promote and support volunteerism throughout the Mid-South.
Originally known as The Volunteer Center of Memphis, the organization was established in 1975 by the Junior League of Memphis & the National Council of Jewish Women. In 2000, we changed our name to Volunteer Memphis. In 2006, in an effort to establish ourselves as a comprehensive "all things volunteer" organization and to better serve local volunteers, we merged with Hands On Memphis. Volunteer Memphis and Hands On Memphis evolved into Volunteer Mid-South in 2009. In 2015, Leadership Memphis acquired Volunteer Mid-South and rebranded it back to its roots as Volunteer Memphis.
Volunteer Memphis develops, promotes, and supports volunteerism.
