The school was established in 1979 as Control Data Institute. In 1985, Hi-Tech Corp. acquired the school, and its name was changed to the Memphis Institute of Technology. Concorde Career Colleges, Inc., purchased the school in November 1988, and, in 1989, its name was changed to Concorde Career Institute.
Recognizing the demand for trained medical personnel, the school began focusing on allied healthcare occupations. The Medical Assistant program was first offered in 1990, and the Medical Offi ce Professional program was added in the spring of 1991. In January 1995, the Dental Assisting program was added to the curriculum, followed by the Pharmacy Technician program in April 1997. A Nurse Aide Training program was added in October 1998 and a Respiratory Therapy program in March 2000, making Concorde Career Institute a total allied healthcare instructional facility.
Approval to grant an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy, Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Medical Office Professional and Pharmacy Technician was received in 1999. As a result of the approval to grant Associate of Science degrees, in 2001 we changed our name to Concorde Career College. In March 2002, we received approval to offer Massage Therapy, in 2003 approval to offer Surgical Technology, in 2008 approval to offer Dental Hygiene and in 2009 approval to offer Physical Therapist Assistant.
Concorde prepares committed students for successful employment in a rewarding health care profession through high caliber training, real world experience and student centered support.
